I for one would like to see a few less ways of how to get to ‘create box’ for example in max in fact, in general more tool fixes, rather than creating a whole new tool/path for each fix/update, and leaving in the all old paths as well. Plenty of debate raged about some kind of new super 3d app now autodesk have bought out Alias, and having used both max and maya in the games industry, with in-house tools, and standalone, they each have independant strengths, but god knows how much room for improvements. Is this via word of mouth, or at least written somewhere on some kind of valid blog by a cg journalist.

You KNOW maya and max will be replaced in a few years even if you/they have to offically deny it at this time.

Last i heard 2011 for a tentative release
Autodesk 3ds max for mac mac#
In reality apple took too long to go intel chips and too long to get a decent operating system…both of which they now have but it’s either too late or apple will now have toĬontend with the growth of linux and ububtu o/s as well as vistaĪlso note 3dsmax is totally tied into windows api calls so it’s nr impossible to move/port to another operating system whereas maya was created on irix ported to linux and windows and even apple osx in the end, your more likly to see xsi on osx than 3dsmax.Īnd as others have said, you can now run 3dsmax via bootcamp too so there no urgency to develop/re write 3dsmax for another operating system and autodesk have already stated they are curtrently writing a new 3d app to eventually REPLACE both maya and 3dsmax…they i’d guess will be platform independant and so would run on windows and linux, maybe even osx if they feel there’s a need/market for apple’s hardware at the time.Īnd yeah i do also have a apple mac as well as 6 windows pcs! Autodesk have answered it…the answer is NOĪppl’es hardware is okay nowdays but the world has moved onto windows from sgi and sun machines when once sgi/silicon graphics ruled cg.
