The soundtrack for TEKKEN 4 was unconventional for the series and more broadly, breaking new ground in the types of electronic music heard in video games. The digital soundtrack published by Namco Sounds is available for streaming on Apple Music and Amazon Music. The Tekken 4 vinyl release is currently available for preorder from Laced Records, as well as distributors Black Screen Records of Cologne, PixelCrib in Melbourne, and Light in the Attic in Seattle. Sleeve artwork for the Laced Records publication is by illustrator Samuel Donato, aka DXSinfinite, while mastering for the 180-gram heavyweight vinyl LPs is by Joe Caithness Mastering. The collaborative soundtrack features music from Namco game composers Akitaka Tohyama, Yuu Miyake, Satoru Kosaki, Hiroshi Okubo, and Keiki Kobayashi. The two-disc analog record set contains 35 music tracks from the arcade and PlayStation 2 editions of the Namco Bandai fighting game.

    The game was later released on the PlayStation 4 in 2002 (March 28 in Japan, September 13 in Europe, and September 23 in North America), adding a new system of unlocking characters (with two additional hidden characters), an update to the previous installment's "Tekken Force" minigame, and an updated Arcade mode (known as "Story Battle", featuring bonus cutscenes). The story is set two years after the events of Tekken 3 (where Jin Kazama, now possessed with the "Devil gene", defeats the mysterious entity known as Ogre and disappears), as Heihachi Mishima forms a fourth King of Iron Fist Tournament to lure out both his son Kazuya (who survived being thrown into a volcano) and his grandson Jin, as both of them possess the "Devil gene" necessary to splice with a sample of Ogre's blood to make Heihachi immortal. It also features other gameplay changes, some of which were removed in Tekken 5. Players can now use walls and other obstacles to juggle opponents for consecutive combos. The fourth main installment in the Tekken series, Tekken 4 introduces a significant gameplay change in the form of closed arenas (instead of the endless and open arenas of previous games). Tekken 4 is a 3D fighting game developed and released by Namco for arcades (using PS2-based Namco System 246 hardware) on July 2001.
